Dirty Beauty means skincare 'from the ground/earth/soil'. We wanted something that means 'natural beauty' and something that was cute catchy fun and very easy to remember. And we hope that our name helps us to remember everyday that the most beneficial food comes 'from the ground' too.

What is 'nature-based' skincare?

Nature-based skincare is just natural skincare, just the kind that really tries to stay close with ingredients grown from the ground and made in a way to get the most out of the unique chemistry and benefit of each plant.

What kind of ingredients do you use? What kind of ingredients don't you use?

We use natural cold-pressed virgin oils, essential oils from flowers leaves and roots, fresh beeswax, dried herbs plants and leaves, mineral-rich dead sea mud, purified clay, sea salt, & cane sugar. We do not use parabens, phthalates, synthetic oils, & lanolin.

Do you use synthetic preservatives?

No, we formulate skincare that uses natural preservation systems, like beeswax, and we create skincare that is both concentrated and dehydrated so you can get the most out of beautifying plants without using synthetic preservatives. Because it's concentrated and effective, Dirty Beauty Skincare products last a long long time, and a little goes a very long way, reducing the number of times per year you have to buy it and increasing the benefits you get every time you use it.

Without synthetic preservatives, is there a shelf-life? What about special handling?

Yes, natural products like ours have a shelf-life, which is typically 2 years for our formulations. Some products have a shelf life of 1 year. Since natural skincare uses the benefits of plants, it's best used fresh. Using clean hands, or better, a clean scoop, and not touching the product at all gives the best results. Dirty Beauty also employs innovative packaging solutions like airless bottles and jars to preserve delicate ingredients so you can use the essences of plants and flowers like they were just picked.

Since natural skincare secrets have been around for thousands of years, how can Dirty Beauty be 'cutting edge'?
